Administrator and School Team of the Year - Virginia Mabaso and St Benedict's College Rowing
Rowing South Africa (RowSA) is extremely excited to announce that Virginia Mabaso and St Benedict's College Rowing Club were named as Administrator of the Year and School Team of the Year finalists for this year's South African Sports Awards which will be held later this year.
Virginia Mabaso is the RowSA Development Co-ordinator and during her 11 years in the sport, the 2017-2018 season certainly has to be one of her best. This year, Virginia continued to spear hear the RowSA Indoor Rowing Development Programme which brings the sport to previously disadvantaged areas and assists them with setting up fully functioning rowing clubs as well as organised competitions!
St Benedict's College Rowing Club
The St Benedict's College Rowing Club was established in 1988 with its primary aim being to create an environment for boys from all walks of life - be it the 'top athlete' who thrives on competition, or the boy yet to find his sporting niche, and would like to join in the camaraderie of our prestigious team.
During the 2017-2018 rowing season St Benedict's showed the depth of their club at the South African School Rowing Championship when they not only won the Boy's 1st 8+, U16 8+, U15 8x+ and U14 8x+, but they also won the overall Boy's School at the competition for the 25th year consecutively! This acheivement for the Club is unmatched at any level within rowing within South Africa and a phenomenal achievement for all those involved!
Rowing South Africa wishes both Virginia and St Benedict's the best of luck with the awards!
